When creating a dynamic template, you can select a specific type for it, allowing the theme to recognize its purpose and optimize template choices across the site. For instance, the header builder will only let you choose templates marked as a header type.

These are the dynamic types you can choose from and their purpose:
Type | Purpose |
---|---|
Part | Templates that display inside other pages or templates. These can be inserted using the Template Part Element or via it’s shortcode. |
Header | Templates to be used via Theme Panel > Header Builder. |
Footer | Templates to be used via Theme Panel > Footer Builder. |
Single | Templates that can be assigned as a singular post template. |
Archive | Templates that can be assigned as an archive template (category, tag, custom taxonomy, post type archive, etc). |
Search Results | Templates that can be assigned as the search results template via Customize > General Theme Options > Search Results Page > Dynamic Template |
Error 404 | Templates to be used via Theme Pane > Custom 404 |
