The Total theme includes support for the “Gallery” format which when selected will display an image slider on your blog posts instead of the default Featured image. All you need to do is select the Gallery format for your post and then define the images you want displayed in the slider under the “Image Gallery” metabox (will show on the right hand side by default).
Custom Post Types Note: You only need to set the “Gallery” format for standard posts, for custom post types if you want to display a slider you only need to define the images under the Image Gallery metabox.
Slider Settings
You can easily control the theme Slider globally via the Customizer if you want to adjust the animation, transition speed, auto play, show hide thumbnails, etc. Simply go to Appearance > Customize > General Theme Options > Post Gallery Slider.
